I think it goes without saying that as a responsible, caring member of this community (I refuse to be a member of deviantART as a corporation, it goes against the principles that this site was founded on) I am dismayed at the recent and gradual trends that I've seen overtaking this site. What was done to Jark was deplorable, and represents, to me, the epitome of selfishness and loss-of-principle.
One can't object to money-making efforts in order to sustain the site and the community, but when those efforts begin to overtake the community itself, its time for an overhaul. This site is, first and foremost, a site that supports artists and helps them to promote themselves by supplying gallery space and a network of support and inspiration from other artists. I think that this is what jark and matteo had in mind when they founded deviantART. The attempt to restructure deviantART as a corporation completely violates this intention.
